Stroll to work
Oil onto wood panel (2cm black floating frame)
"One of the many challenges faced by long serving injured veterans is the transition into civilian life and a very different lifestyle. My injury meant I had to find work that would not exacerbate my disability. I remember painting this thinking about the new experience of a stroll to work alone compared with the fast pace collective march of an army team. The injuries and the ongoing effects mean a different pace and, at times, a lonely walk. However, routine is something we come to know and befriend. New places of work can bring new hope and stability to those who have suffered."
